Georges Roes (born March 3, 1889 in Tarbes , † May 14, 1945 in Levallois-Perret ) was a French sports marksman .

successes

Georges Roes took part in the Olympic Games in Antwerp in 1920 and in Paris in 1924 . In 1920 he competed in eight disciplines and won the silver medal in the prone position with the army rifle in the team competition at the side of Achille Paroche , André Parmentier , Léon Johnson and Émile Rumeau . In five other disciplines he was among the top five in the ranking. Four years later he came together with Émile Rumeau, Paul Colas , Albert Courquin and Pierre Hardy in the team competition with the free rifle, which was held over the distances of 400 m, 600 m and 800 m, on 646 points and won behind the US -american and silver medal ahead of the Haitian team. Roes was the fourth best shooter on the team with 126 points.

Roes won four medals at world championships . In 1921 in Lyon and in 1924 in Reims , he and the team secured the bronze medal in the three-position fight with the free rifle as well as in Antwerp in 1930 in the three-position fight with the army rifle. In the prone position with the free rifle, he became vice world champion in St. Gallen in 1925 .
