Georgi Michailowitsch Wizin
Georgy Vitsin (listed by many as Georgy Vitsin; Russian Георгий Михайлович Вицин ; born 5 April . Jul / 18 April 1917 greg. In Terijoki ; † 22. October 2001 in Moscow ) was a Soviet and Russian theater and film actor.
Life
Wizin was born in Terijoki near Saint Petersburg. Terijoki used to belong to Finland and is now called Zelenogorsk in Russia. He studied from 1934 to 1935 at the drama school of the Vakhtangov Theater ( Московская драматическая Студия Е. Б. Вахтангова ) in Moscow. Since 1936 he played on the studio stage under the direction of Nikolai Chmeljow. He played his first film roles in the 1940s. Wizin acted in numerous films and lent his voice to the protagonists in cartoons and animated films. He achieved national popularity in the Soviet Union through comedies in the 1960s. In 1990 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR .
Until his last day he appeared as a stage actor. Wizin died on October 22, 2001 (according to other sources on October 23) in a Moscow hospital. Wizin was buried in the Vagankovo Cemetery in Moscow. A monument to the actor was erected in Zelenogorsk in 2008.
