Gerald Wasserfuhr

Gerald Wasserfuhr (born February 14, 1957 in Wipperfürth ) is a German musician ( clarinet , saxophone , piano , orchestra conductor) and music teacher .

Live and act

Wasserfuhr received private piano lessons from the age of seven . Two years later he also learned the clarinet and became a member of the Wipperfeld Schützenkapelle. At the age of 15 he made his first experiences with church music as the youngest organist in the St. Clemens parish in Wipperfeld and worked there as an organist for 33 years . In parallel, he founded the music group "The Spotlight", which later became a renowned backing band of light music established (u. A. Roy Black , Tony Marshall , Chris Roberts , Freddy Breck , Cindy and Bert ). After completing school and an apprenticeship, he studied clarinet with Prof. Franz Klein (including solo clarinet at the Bayreuth Festival , WDR Symphony Orchestra ) at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne and graduated with distinction. During his studies he became the conductor of the Schützenkapelle Wipperfeld, which he directed for 33 years. After graduating, he performed as a clarinet player a. a. with the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken , as well as with the Beethoven Orchester Bonn . Wasserfuhr became department head of the Bergisch Gladbach Music School and founded and directed the big band "Blue Art Orchestra". In 1991 he founded the folk music group "Original Bergländer Musikanten" with a musician friend , with whom he recorded and released the Arminia label ( Erich Storz Musikverlag ) the debut album "Funny Berländer". He composed and arranged for various formations.

Since 2002 he has been a teacher at the Municipal Secondary School Hückeswagen operates through its unique model of class music-making became known beyond the borders of the country.

It followed u. a. Invitations from the Cologne District Government , the Ministry of Education and the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

In addition to his many years of teaching activity, Wasserfuhr continues to perform as a clarinetist . I.a. he can be heard on the recordings “Running” and “Relax Jazzed” by his sons, the jazz brothers Julian & Roman Wasserfuhr .
