Gerardo Alcoba Rebollo (born November 25, 1984 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Alcoba started playing football in baby fútbol near Peñarol de Maldonado. He then joined the Ituzaingó Club in Maldonado , which is located near the Atlantic coast . There he made his debut as a 16-year-old in the first team. In 2002 he was still there in the Liga Mayor de Maldonado in the Primera División and scored a goal in the Torneo Clasificatorio. At the age of 17 he moved to the Montevideo Wanderers , where he was first used in the Cuarta División . The 1.84 m tall central defender was in the first division squad of the Uruguayan capital city club at least from Clausura 2004. In the 2005/06 season there is a use in the Primera División for him , while he completed 27 first division games in the following season. During his engagement with Wanderers, traces of cocaine were detected in a doping test in August 2007 - just like his teammate Mathías Corujo - after a game against Bella Vista .

Since the Apertura 2008 he played for Peñarol . There he won the Uruguayan Championship in the 2009/10 season. He also played three games in the Copa Libertadores in 2009 (2) and 2011 (1), played four games in the Copa Sudamericana in 2009 and four in the Liguilla Pre Libertadores 2009 for the Aurinegros . In January 2011, Alcoba suffered a cruciate ligament rupture at the Copa Bimbo during the game against Vélez Sársfield , as a result of which he was predicted to be injured for at least six months. Since then he has not come to any other missions for the Montevideans. On February 3, 2012, after a total of 77 Primera División appearances (10 goals) for the Aurinegros had been completed by Alcoba by then , his move on loan to Club Atlético Colón was announced, where he signed a half-year contract that included a purchase option for the Argentines contained and was supposed to replace the injured Ronald Raldes . Previously, a planned move to the Peruvian club Universitario de Deportes , which he was already in Peru to process, was disrupted due to the considerable financial problems of the Lima clubs. In Santa Fe he met his compatriots Javier Chevantón and Pablo Lima, who were also playing there at Colón .

Up to his last appearance on May 3, 2014, he made 63 league appearances for Colón, in which he scored a total of three goals. He was also used in one game of the Copa Argentina and three games of the Copa Sudamericana . In June 2014 his move to Ecuador to join LDU Quito was announced. With the Ecuadorians he was used 19 times (two goals) in the Primera A. At the end of December 2014, he was introduced as a newcomer to the Mexican club UNAM Pumas , to which he was loaned by Quito. At that time he was under contract with the Ecuadorians for two more years. For the Mexicans he has so far (as of August 10, 2017) completed 77 first division games and scored six goals. He was also used four times (no goal) in the Copa México , eight times (three goals) in the Copa Libertadores 2016 and twice (no goal) in the CONCACAF Champions Cup .

National team

At least in June 2007 Alcoba was a member of Uruguay 's U-23 team, which was supervised by Roland Marcenaro . The defender was also used in the Uruguayan national soccer team. Overall, he completed two international friendlies against Turkey and Japan for his home country in 2008, in which he could not score a goal.
