Gerberga from Cappenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gerberga von Cappenberg was a sister of Count Gottfried and Otto from the Cappenberg family . After the Cappenberg Castle near Lünen (located between Dortmund and Münster) was converted into a Premonstratensian monastery by her brother Gottfried, Count des Dreingaus , at the suggestion of Norbert von Xanten , she too chose the ecclesiastical status. From 1116 she was abbess of Abbey overwater in Münster. Since 1126 she was also abbess of the Quedlinburg monastery . There she spent her last years and was probably also buried in Quedlinburg. Due to her paternal descent from the Liudolfingern and maternal from the Staufer , a career in the church was possible for her.
