Gerd Prager

Gerd-Mathias Prager (born October 12, 1896 ) was a German actor , voice actor and director .

Life

Prager had worked as an actor and director at various Berlin theaters since the 1940s. Until 1948 he was part of the Thalia Theater ensemble, after which he worked for various guest theater stages such as the ORSON Association of Young Actors and the Berlin-West event ring. His other stage stops include the Renaissance theater and the stands , where he played "Merriman" in Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest in 1955 .

Between 1949 and 1971, Prager also appeared at irregular intervals as an actor in various German-language cinema, television and radio play productions , including DEFA productions such as Slatan Dudow and Richard Groschopp's crime drama Familie Benthin and Paul Verhoeven's film adaptation of the fairy tale Das kalte Herz as well as in 1969 in Alfred Vohrer's crime film The Man with the Glass Eye based on motifs by Edgar Wallace . His television appearances include the portrayal of Philipp Scheidemann in the documentary drama In About Erzberger Against Helfferich by Axel Eggebrecht and Inge Stolten .

Prager also worked extensively as a voice actor and lent his voice, among others, Terence Alexander in Judith , William Cottrell in The Downfall of the Titanic , Noel Howlett in Murder ahoi! , Clem Bevans in Saboteurs and John Litel in Nevada Smith .

In some publications and online sources, Prager is mixed up with the editor, dramaturge and former ZDF program director Gerhard Prager .
