Gerd Ritgen
Gerd Ritgen (born January 6, 1910 in Wormeln ; † July 7, 1998 in Bad Wildungen ) was a German farmer and politician ( CDU ).
Life and work
Ritgen was born the son of a farmer. After graduating from high school in 1929, he first completed an agricultural apprenticeship. He then took up a degree in agriculture in Munich and Berlin , where he became an active member of the Catholic student union Burgundia, now K.St.V. Askania-Burgundia Berlin in KV . In 1934 he got his degree as an agronomist and graduated as Dr. agr. in Bonn . Then he worked in the field of livestock and meat industry. He took part in World War II since 1941 and was taken prisoner in 1944, from which he was released in 1946.
Ritgen was employed by the State Food Office in Düsseldorf in 1947/48 and in 1949 worked as a practical farmer in his parents' business, the Wormeln monastery . He was also chairman of the supervisory board of the Warburg-Rimbeck dairy cooperative and of the Warburg AG sugar factory. In addition, he was chairman of the Association of the Seed Multiplier Organization Westphalia-Lippe, the Working Group for Seed Multiplication in Frankfurt am Main and the State Market Association for Cattle and Meat North Rhine-Westphalia . From 1963 to 1985 he was chairman of the Federal Association of German Seed Growers.
