Life

Gerd Stange: Rhythmic Babylonian water sculpture, photography and sponge technique, 1996

Since the beginning of the 1990s, Stange has created several larger installations and memorials in Hamburg-Eppendorf , including the interrogation cell (1990) and the sub-stage (1995), both works with anti-fascist references to the White Rose and Wolfgang Borchert . In 1996 he also created the trench-soldier's grave memorial in Groß Borstel and the project to rename the "Old People's Garden" in Wehber Park in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel in A garden piece for Rosa Luxemburg (2006).

Since 1984 Stange's works can be seen in exhibitions, readings and installations together with other artists. His work is strongly influenced by politically committed and unconventional conceptual art that runs counter to the “normal” art world. Stange is one of the representatives of "art in public space". He lives in Hamburg.
