Gerd von Bassewitz

Gerd Graf von Bassewitz (born October 9, 1856 in Schwerin , † June 21, 1945 in Ticino (near Rostock) , full name Gerd Heinrich Karl Friedrich Graf von Bassewitz ) was a Mecklenburg manor owner and court official.

Life

He was the second son of the Fideikommissherrn on Dalwitz Heinrich Graf von Bassewitz and Charlotte born. von Bülow was born into the Wendish branch of the old Bassewitz family. After attending high school in Eutin he studied at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn , the University of Leipzig and at the University of Rostock Law . In 1877 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn . He also served in a hussar regiment, where he became a reserve officer. As a trainee lawyer After completing his agricultural training, he took over as Fideikommissherr Dalwitz , Stierow and Stechow as well as Lühburg , Basse, Strietfeld and Repnitz near Gnoien in Mecklenburg-Schwerin .

Bassewitz was chamberlain to Grand Duchess Anastasia and Grand Ducal Mecklenburg-Schwerin master of ceremonies . He was married to Viktoria Freiin von Beaulieu-Marconnay , with whom he had four sons and three daughters.
