Gerhard Bloemecke

Gerhard Bloemecke (born May 22, 1936 in Karlsruhe ; † April 7, 2013 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and entrepreneur.

Life and work

Bloemecke attended primary school in Brühl and grammar school in Münnerstadt . He then completed an apprenticeship as a baker and then as a pastry chef in Mannheim . In 1961 and 1962 he passed the corresponding master craftsman exams . He had been running the first bakery independently since 1960. He then built a large bakery in Mannheim and the Rhine-Neckar region with a large number of branches and 170 employees. In the mid-1990s he entered into a cooperation with the troubled Mannheim competitor Kautsch and invested several million DM in new large ovens. However, the loans could not be serviced, so that the Bloemecke branches were taken over by the Viennese fine bakery Heberer in 1998 . Bloemecke was married and had two children.

politics

In 1968 Bloemecke joined the CDU. From 1971 to 1984 and from 1994 to 1996 he was a member of the Mannheim City Council. In the second period he was also chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. In 1984 he was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , to which he belonged for four legislative periods until 2001.

Honors

In 2005 Bloemecke was awarded the gold medal of the city of Mannheim for his political life's work. In 2001 he also received the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and the Staufer Medal of the State of Baden-Württemberg.
