Gerhard Klimeck

Gerhard Klimeck (born March 15, 1966 in Essen ) is a German-American scientist, university professor, specialist book author in the field of molecular nanotechnology and electrical engineering.

Youth and education

After graduating from the Carl-Humann-Gymnasium in Essen, he began studying at the Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) in 1985 . In 1988 he traveled to Indiana as an exchange student ( Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung ) and studied at Purdue University in West Lafayette , at the chair of Prof. Supriyo Datta. In 1990 he completed his studies in Bochum as an electrical engineer ( Dipl.-Ing. ), Received his doctorate in 1994 at Purdue University doctorate ( Ph.D. ) and the research group concluded Nanoelectronics at the Texas Instruments (TI) to .

Working, researching, teaching

Gerhard Klimeck is head of the Nanoelectronic Modeling Group and has been a professor for electrical engineering and computer science at Purdue University since December 2003. Since May 2009 he has been a director at the National Science Foundation Network for Computational Nanotechnology (NCN) . He participated for at NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Physical Society (APS). Gerhard Klimeck filed three patents and published a number of relevant books and publications on nanoscience , quantum mechanics , semiconductors , electron transport chain , tunnel effect , field effect transistors and resonant tunneling diodes , u. Ä. In recognition of his achievements, he has received several awards.
