Gerhard Marcel Martin (* 21st March 1942 in Dusseldorf ) is a German Protestant practical theology and emeritus professors .

Career

Martin studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Wuppertal , Tübingen , Heidelberg and Bonn . In 1964 he went on a five-month study trip through the Middle East. He completed his studies in 1967 with the first theological examination at the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland . From 1970 to 1975 he worked as a research assistant at the Department of Protestant Theology at the University of Tübingen (Professor Jürgen Moltmann ). There he did his doctorate in 1973 on the subject of "Decisionism in Rudolf Bultmann's theology? Theological, anthropological and logical problems of the theological talk of 'decision'" as a doctor of theology. This was followed in 1973/74 by an academic year with teaching assignments in New York (Union Theological Seminary) and St. Louis, combined with studying "art of moving" with Katya Delakova, New York. Since then he has been working in cooperation with artists, educators, psychologists and theologians on the development of the "bibliodrama" as a holistic and multidimensional approach to biblical texts.

From 1975 to 1982 he was director of studies and later deputy director at the Evangelical Academy Arnoldshain . In 1976 he submitted the 2nd Theol. Examination at the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau and was ordained a pastor. From 1982 to 2007 he was professor of practical theology at the Philipps University of Marburg , and since the summer semester of 1999 he has also been a university preacher . From 2006–2008 he was visiting professor at the (Buddhist) Ōtani University of Kyoto in Japan.

Focus of work

GM Martin deals in particular with questions of the multidimensional hermeneutics of religious and literary texts, played a key role in developing the bibliodrama in Germany , researches questions of spirituality and promotes and deals with the relationships between theology, depth psychology and aesthetics .
