Gerhard Paulus

Gerhard Paulus (born February 13, 1922 in Stuttgart ; † May 5, 2002 in Munich ) was a German business lawyer and politician ( FDP ).

Life

As a 23-year-old artillery lieutenant, Paulus was badly wounded by an aerial bomb at the end of the war in the Po Valley and lost his right leg. After the war he studied law with a focus on business law at the University of Heidelberg , where he was one of the re-founders of the Corps Rhenania . After passing the assessor exam, he first settled as a lawyer in Heilbronn , where he was chairman of the Heilbronn Artists' Association from November 7, 1955 .

From Heilbronn he went to Kulmbach in July 1956 and later joined Eckes AG in Nieder-Olm , where he became head of human resources. He also represented the company in various associations in the spirits and fruit juice industry. In 1969 he became the EC spokesman for the Association of German Wine Distilleries. V. (Wiesbaden).

From January 11, 1954, when he replaced the retired MP Hanns Schloß , he was the youngest member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament until 1956 for the FDP parliamentary group . In the state elections on March 4, 1956, he ran in the Heilbronn-Stadt constituency , but was not elected. He was also a member of the FDP state executive, vice-president of the European Young Liberals and deputy federal chairman of the German Young Democrats . For more than 20 years he was chairman of the state committee for economics and transport of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate and temporarily deputy chairman of the federal committee for economics, consumers and transport .

From 1962 to 1981 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom .
