Gerhard Rimbach

Gerhard Rimbach (born August 17, 1925 in Triangel ; † December 20, 2004 ) was a German mechanical engineer . From 1980 to 1989 he was the founding rector of the University of Siegen .

Life

Gerhard Rimbach studied engineering , business education and sociology in Braunschweig and Cologne with final engineering graduate and doctorate Dr. phil. From 1950 to 1960 he held various positions as operations manager and entrepreneur. From 1961 to 1971 he was a lecturer at the Engineering School for Mechanical Engineering (SIS) in Siegen. From 1971 to 1972 he was rector of the Siegen-Gummersbach University of Applied Sciences. Since 1972 he has held the professorship for construction theory, specialist didactics in mechanical engineering and the sociology of technology at the Siegen University and was a member of the Senate. In 1972 he became Vice President for Structural, Development and Budget Planning. From 1980 to 1989 he was the founding rector of the University of Siegen. In 1993 he was appointed honorary senator of the University of Siegen.
