Gerhard Roth (born November 23, 1933 in Daaden ) is a German politician of the SPD . From 1987 to 1996 he was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Life

After attending primary school, Roth completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith, which he completed with a journeyman's examination. He joined IG Metall and was a member of the works council at Friedrichshütte ( Wehbach ) from 1957 to 1969 and at the Menk company (Bad Marienberg) from 1957 to 1987. Between 1970 and 1994 he was a member of the board of directors of AOK Westerwald, and from 1979 to 1994 board member of the Kreissparkasse Westerwald .

Gerhard Roth is married to Hildegard Roth, geb. Wengenroth and has two daughters.

Roth has been a member of the SPD since 1965, and between 1986 and 1996 he was chairman of the SPD sub-district Westerwald.

From 1964 he was a councilor in Eichenstruth , from 1969 a member of the district council of the Westerwaldkreis and from 1981 district deputy. From 1994 to 2007 he was a city councilor in Bad Marienberg and at the same time a member of the municipal council of the Bad Marienberg municipality .

From 1987 to 1996 Roth was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate. In the state elections in 1987 he entered parliament via the SPD's state list , and in the state elections in 1991 he won the direct mandate in constituency 5 (Bad Marienberg / Westerburg ). He was a member of the Committee on Economics and Transport in both legislative periods, from 1987 to 1991 a member of the Petitions Committee and from 1991 to 1996 a member of the Media Policy Committee.

He was awarded the Johann Christian Eberle Medal for his services to the savings bank system. In 2008 the city of Marienberg honored his work in local politics with the gold seal coin. Roth is also the recipient of the Willy Brandt Medal .
