career

The athletic and dangerous center forward in the 4-3-3 system, which was predominantly practiced at the time in the DFB area , originally came from Adler Burbach to the Leimbachstadion to the sports fans in Siegen. In the 1970/71 season he belonged to the runners-up team of the Red-Whites in the amateur league of Westphalia, but could not assert himself in the two games for the German amateur championship against the North Baden representative 1. FC Pforzheim . In the following round, 1971/72 , the attacker won the championship in the Association League Westphalia, group 2 in front of SSV Hagen, under the Siegerland football idol and coach Herbert Schäfer . In two games against STV Horst-Emscher (Champion Westphalia, Group 1) they then prevailed for the "Westphalia Championship", before after the successful promotion round to Regionalliga West against 1. FC Styrum (Champion Niederrhein), Bonner SC ( Champion Middle Rhine) and STV Horst-Emscher with 10: 2 points had also won the award as "West German Amateur Champion".

Sportfreunde also took the vigor from the successful round into the second division of the Regionalliga West for the 1972/73 season . The return of 20-time amateur national player Gerhard Neuser from FC Schalke 04 also had an inspiring effect . His routine, ball skill, ability to combine and exemplary team spirit, had a positive effect on the previous amateur footballers and encouraged them to improve their performance under Herbert Schäfer's training management. Another veteran Dieter Mietz , who came from Borussia Dortmund - 42-time amateur national player from 1967 to 1972 - also contributed to the improvement of the newcomer's performance thanks to his defensive strength, which was still present. Accordingly, the Sportfreunde competed on July 30, 1972 in the Lohrheidestadion against SG Wattenscheid 09 for the opening game. With two goals from the center striker and striker Gerhard Scholtyschik, the red-whites prevailed with a 2-0 win and thus took the first two round points in the Regionalliga West.

Due to the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, there was a break after the fourth matchday (August 20), which was only continued on September 17 with the fifth matchday - victories lost to championship favorites Rot-Weiss Essen with 1: 4 goals , but "Scholty", as he was widely known, and his teammates did not deviate from the sporting course. On the contrary, the attacker also developed into one of the most dangerous offensive forces in the West in the regional league. He also distinguished himself as a two-time goalscorer in the further course of the round in the games against Arminia Bielefeld (3: 2), Eintracht Gelsenkirchen (3: 2) and Westfalia Herne (2: 0). In addition, he was the winning goal scorer in the respective 1-0 successes against Alemannia Aachen and the two games against Preußen Münster. The winner was the Siegen striker from duty in the 3-2 away win on January 28, 1973 against Schwarz-Weiß Essen , when he scored all three goals for his team. In the reporting in Kicker at the time he was described as a “devil guy”, as a “dangerous Scholtyschik, because he knows how to capitalize on every opportunity presented” and “... at the front the outstanding Scholtyschik alone caused the necessary stir. When he started, there was always danger ahead, ”said.

After the 2-0 win at Westfalia Herne on April 1, 1973, coach Schäfer explained the goals of his center forward with the following words: "In our defensive system, Scholtyschik found the space that he needs to shoot on goal." At the end of the round, Siegen took seventh place in the Regionalliga West with 39:29 points and a goal difference of 55:53 goals. With his 24 goals, Scholtyschik was second in the scorers list, behind Manfred Burgsmüller (29 goals) from Bayer Uerdingen, who finished third. Willi Lippens (24 goals) and Dieter Bast (20 goals), the two most successful goal scorers of the superior champions RW Essen - 55:13 points and 104: 40 goals - as well as Rolf Kucharski (20 goals), on the other hand, from the runner-up and later Bundesliga promoted Fortuna Cologne (85:29 goals), were able to achieve their goals in a much better squad of players. Scholtyschick had already occupied second place on the list of goalscorers at the Meisterstück a year earlier in the association league, behind Holger Osieck from SSV Hagen.

The second season in the second-rate Regionalliga West, 1973/74, was dominated by the introduction of the start of the 2nd Bundesliga for the 1974/75 season. On June 30, 1973, the delegates of the DFB Bundestag decided to start the second division in two classes with 20 clubs each. As a sporting qualification, it was stipulated that the final positions of the regional league years 1969/70 and 1970/71 should be rated single, 1971/72 and 1972/73 double and 1973/74 triple and the northern relay should consist of eleven western clubs, seven northern division and two Berlin representatives would. Siegen went into the last year of the second-rate regional league with goal scorer Scholtyschik, but without playmaker Gerhard Neuser, who was retiring for reasons of age and wear and tear, and financially, the two newcomers from relegated Lüner SV, goalkeeper Behrens and striker Reiners, were not big either Wheel turned. Scholtyschik confirmed his scoring risk with 16 goals in the course of the round and Alfred Seiler scored a further 17 goals of the 59 goals scored by Sportfreunde, but the defensive was not competitive with 76 goals conceded in the fight for admission to the 2nd Bundesliga. The eleven from the Leimbachstadion were in twelfth place at the end of the round and had to play their association games for the 1974/75 round in the Association League Westphalia , Group 2 (Southwest).

The goalscorer went back to the amateur camp with his club and, in the year after the soccer world championship in 1974, took third place with the Sportfreunde behind Meister Westfalia Herne and the DSC Wanne-Eickel. As a result, the goal of immediate promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga was failed. In the 1975 DFB Cup , Scholtyschik and his teammates survived the first two main rounds against HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst and 1. SC Göttingen 05 and only failed in the third round on February 8, 1975 in the Westfalenstadion with a 2-1 defeat against Borussia Dortmund. The goalscorers for BVB were Hans-Werner Hartl and Klaus Ackermann , for Siegen Scholtyschik scored in the 87th minute in front of 18,000 spectators.

After his time in Siegen, Scholtyschik tied his football boots for SSV Dillenburg and was a member of the "SF Oldies" for years. In addition, he coached, among other things, the club VfB Burbach 1907/1920 , which was created in 1972 from a merger of the clubs VfB 1907 Wahlbach and SV Adler 1920 Burbach (his home club).

In 1984 Scholtyschik founded the company G. Scholtyschik wood connector production in Burbach together with his wife Gabriele .
