from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gernot Schieszler (born April 14, 1970 in Grieskirchen , Upper Austria) is an Austrian manager and key witness in the telecommunications affair .

Life

Schieszler graduated from the Vienna University of Economics in 1996 , majoring in business administration.

He started his professional career in 1997 at Czipin & Partner international productivity consulting GmbH, where he was most recently responsible as a project partner for Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Hungary as a company restructuring company and in the conception of growth strategies.

In January 2000 he was appointed assistant to the CFO of Telekom Austria AG by Telecom Italia SpA, with the aim of going public (IPO) on the Vienna Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 6 months . In the course of this he was entrusted with setting up (later the management) a controlling for Telekom Austria AG and group controlling . In March 2001 Schieszler became Vice President Finance (Deputy Chief Financial Officer) and was responsible for the entire strategy of the fixed network area.

In the supervisory board meeting on June 12, 2006, the new structure for the Telekom Austria Group was decided: a lean management holding company that forms the roof over the two independent companies for fixed network and mobile communications. In this holding, Schieszler was appointed to the management board as deputy general director and CFO fixed network.

At the end of June 2009, Schieszler resigned from his functions within Telekom Austria. Since June 1, 2010, Gernot Schieszler has been a member of the board of the Christof Group AG, an international plant construction company with headquarters in Graz .

In July 2011, the Austrian news magazine profil reported on Schieszler's possible involvement in alleged manipulation of the Telekom Austria share price.

Bullying allegations

In February 2009, Schieszler became known to a wider public after allegations of bullying were raised against him. Schieszler can be seen on a video published on YouTube in which he explains during a survey by an investor how tenured employees who are no longer required and who can neither be retrained nor leased can be persuaded to accept golden handshakes . Schieszler explained that the employees would first be released from work for a few months. After a few weeks, however, she would be called and ordered back to work. If they declare that they are sick, they will be sent a doctor. If this finds out that they are not sick, they will be sued. Some more would accept the golden handshake . In retrospect he distanced himself and said that he had "unfortunately chosen statements at this event that were unfortunate and misleading". As a result of this incident, Schieszler had to hand over the personnel agendas to Hannes Ametsreiter , board member of the fixed network .

Telecom affair

In October 2011 it became known that the advertising agency Euro RSCG had sent Telekom Austria an invoice for EUR 585,600 (including sales tax) on June 20, 2007 and was paid for it for the "strategic conception of the sponsoring presence of Telekom Austria in the context of the Euro 2008 ”is said to have served. The signatures were made by Schieszler and the then Telekom Fixed Line Marketing Director Stefan Tweraser . The in-house investigations by Telekom have not been able to find a corresponding, comprehensible performance. The half a million to the RSCG seems to be missing an indirect benefit. A part of the sum should have flowed back to TA (board members).

In exchange for impunity , 120 hours of social service and 300,000 euros in damages for Telekom Austria according to the diversion offer , Schieszler appeared as a key witness for the public prosecutor in the criminal proceedings of the so-called telecommunications affair. He was thus the first key witness under the “major key witness regulation” created on January 1, 2011. In civil law route calls for the Telekom Austria another two million euros in damages from Schieszler. The lobbyist Peter Hochegger , who is also involved in the affair, filed a complaint against Schieszler for defamation and false evidence .
