Johannes "Hannes" Ametsreiter (born January 20, 1967 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian manager and managing director of Vodafone Germany & Unitymedia .

Life

Ametsreiter studied journalism and communication science as well as sports science at the University of Salzburg . After completing his doctorate, he completed an MBA at Pepperdine University in the USA.

Before starting his career in the telecommunications industry, Ametsreiter was a manager at Procter & Gamble . In 1996 he moved to Mobilkom Austria and worked in product management. In October 2000 he became Head of Marketing - at the same time he was also given power of attorney . From January 2001, Ametsreiter was director of marketing and sales, and from June 2002 he was also responsible for customer services. From July 2005 to June 2006 Ametsreiter was CMO of Bulgarian Mobiltel .

On July 1, 2007, he was appointed Marketing Director of Telekom Austria TA AG. As of January 1, 2009, Ametsreiter was, in addition to his role as CMO at Mobilkom Austria, also CEO of the fixed network company Telekom Austria TA and board member of the Telekom Austria Group for fixed network.

In 2008 he was elected best marketing director across all industries in Europe - he received the international marketing award from Booz & Company CMO of the Year 2008 .

In April 2009, Ametsreiter succeeded Boris Nemsic as General Director and CEO of the Telekom Austria Group and CEO of Mobilkom Austria. In addition, he remained CEO of the fixed line company Telekom Austria TA. Since the merger of mobilkom austria AG and Austria TA AG in 2010 to form A1 Telekom Austria , Ametsreiter was their general director. He has also been a board member of the GSM Association since 2009 and was President of the Forum Mobilkommunikation (FMK) in 2012 . When América Móvil joined Telekom Austria as the second largest shareholder, later as the majority shareholder, Ametsreiter was confirmed in his position by Carlos Slim .

In June 2015 it was announced that he was leaving Telekom Austria on July 2, 2015. On June 19, 2015, Vodafone Germany announced its intention to appoint Ametsreiter as the new CEO of Vodafone Germany with effect from October 1, 2015 .

Ametsreiter has been married to Marie Hélène Ametsreiter (née Magenschab) since 2005 and has two daughters.
