Stefan Günther Tweraser (born November 18, 1969 ) is an Austrian manager and management consultant .

education and profession

Tweraser completed an HTL for telecommunications engineering and then studied business administration at the Vienna University of Economics , where he also worked as an assistant from 1994 to 1997 and in 1997 as a Dr. rer. soc. oec. PhD. Tweraser was Head of Studies for Marketing and Sales at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences until April 1998 . He then moved to McKinsey & Company as a management consultant . In January 2003 he became a partner at McKinsey. As part of the reorganization of the fixed-line network , Tweraser moved to Telekom Austria at the beginning of June 2003 as head of marketing, where he worked until 2007 and was responsible for significant staff and budget cuts. In December 2006, Tweraser was elected President at the request of Telekom, the then general sponsor of the Austrian Volleyball Association. In December 2007 Tweraser resigned from office.

After leaving Telekom, he moved to Google Germany, where he succeeded Christian Baudis as Country Director Sales from May 2008. Between 2007 and 2008, Tweraser was also briefly managing director of Omnimedia advertising company , a Telekom holding. After the indictment against Tweraser for breach of trust in the so-called telecommunications affair became known, he was initially given leave of absence from Google in January 2013, and at the end of February of the same year he finally left the search engine and advertising company.

In 2015 Tweraser worked for a Viennese management consulting agency and studied psychotherapy science at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna .

Telecom affair

On December 4, 2012, the Vienna Public Prosecutor brought charges against Tweraser and three other people for breach of trust. With the help of the advertising agency Euro-RSCG , Tweraser is said to have illegally received more than half a million euros from Telekom Austria.

Before Tweraser to Google Germany moved he agreed as part of his contract termination in 2007 with the telecom manager Gernot Schieszler an additional clearance of two years' salary. Since, according to the Telekom social plan, he was only entitled to a premium of 28,000 euros, according to the indictment , the money should flow "through a third company, namely the Euro-RSCG". The agency, which was headed by the advertisers Gustav Eder-Neuhauser and Albert Essenther at the time, managed Telekom's 2.5 million euro advertising budget . According to the indictment, the agency bosses agreed "to process this 'informal clearance' through the Euro-RSCG". For this purpose, Telekom was presented with a bill of over 585,600 euros in July 2007 for the “strategic conception of the sponsoring presence in the context of Euro 2008 ”. After Tweraser officially left Telekom, he submitted three bogus invoices for a total of 585,600 euros in the name of his Gekko Consulting GmbH . All of the defendants upheld the cash flows, but denied any criminal responsibility.

The beginning of the so-called Telekom II trial was on February 25, 2014 at the Vienna Regional Criminal Court . On the second day of the hearing, the proceedings were postponed to April 1, 2014, as the former Telekom landline director Rudolf Fischer , who was summoned as a witness , did not appear in court and an expert was asked to clarify the question "whether a substantial severance payment was motivating the other employees of the house. " Tweraser and his three co-defendants face up to ten years in prison. In January 2014 Telekom Austria confirmed that Tweraser would repay the amount in installments.

In February 2015, the responsible judge Michael Tolstiuk determined that the offense of infidelity had not been fulfilled and that the payments to Tweraser had not caused any damage to Telekom. Tweraser and the accused Euro RSCG agency bosses Eder-Neuhauser and Essenther were therefore acquitted. The public prosecutor's office announced that the judgments would be annulled , and the acquittals are now final.
