Gerald "Gerry" Ashmore (born July 25, 1936 in West Bromwich ) is a former British racing driver .
Career
Gerry Ashmore took part in three races of the automobile world championship in 1961 . He started with a Lotus 18 - Climax he used privately at the Grand Prix of Great Britain and retired on the seventh lap with damage to the ignition. At the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring , he finished 14th, two laps behind the winner, Stirling Moss . At the Italian Grand Prix in Monza , he was eliminated on the first lap due to an accident. This race was marked by the death of the leading German in the 1961 Automobile World Championship , Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips .
