Gerry Woop (born April 22, 1968 in Glauchau , GDR ) is a German political scientist and political official ( PDS , since 2007 Die Linke ). Since January 24, 2017 he has been State Secretary for Europe in the Senate Department for Culture and Europe in Senate Müller II , headed by Senator Klaus Lederer .

Life

Woop left the extended high school "Georgius Agricola" in Glauchau in 1986 with the Abitur and then took up a degree in political science at the officers' college of the Land Forces of the NVA in Löbau . He graduated in 1990 with a degree in political science, and was appointed lieutenant .

Before he began his master's degree in Peace and Security Studies at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg in 2002 , the political scientist worked as an employee of the State Board of Saxony of the PDS (1990–1991) and headed the PDS federal office in Berlin (1992–1997) , personal advisor (1997–1999) and research assistant (1999–2002) to Wolfgang Gehrcke . Woop completed his master's degree in 2003, was a scholarship holder of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation until 2006 and subsequently headed the office of Harald Wolf , the Senator for Economics, Labor and Women (later Senator for Economics, Technology and Women) and Mayor of Berlin, active. In 2009 he became a research assistant to the Bundestag member Stefan Liebich . He held this post until 2012, before becoming Head of the Federal Council Coordination, Economy and Ecology Department in the Representation of the State of Brandenburg at the federal level . From 2014 to 2015 Woop was head of the office of the Minister of Finance ( Christian Görke ) and the State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance of the State of Brandenburg ( Daniela Trochowski ) and from 2015 to 2016 Head of the Federal Council Coordination, Law, Europe and Finance department in the representation of State of Brandenburg to the federal government.

On January 24, 2017, Gerry Woop was appointed State Secretary for Europe by Senator Klaus Lederer in the Berlin State Administration for Culture and Europe of Senate Müller II.

Woop is married and has 3 children.
