From 2006 to 2007 he reconstructed the ceiling painting in the dome of the fraternity monument in Eisenach using historical templates and fragments of the original picture by Otto Gussmann .

After iron bells were often used instead of bronze bells melted down into weapons in the world wars and these have now reached their natural limit, many church bells are now being renewed and redesigned. Gert Weber designed new bronze bells individually with reliefs for the City Church of Waltershausen (2002), the Arnstadt Church of Our Lady (2003), the City Church of Weißensee (2004), the Church of Peter and Paul Molschleben (2006), the Elisabeth Church Georgenthal (2007) and for Churches in Laucha and Remstädt (2008).

Weber's works can be found today in the German Historical Museum , the Cathedral Museum in Fulda , the University of Leipzig , the City Museum in Düsseldorf and in numerous other private and public collections.

His exhibition Painting Against Powerlessness appeared in 2011 in the bunker church in Düsseldorf , in the Thuringian state parliament , in Saalfeld and in the branch office of the Federal Office for Securing Stasi Documents in Erfurt .

style

Inspired by his own experiences with the GDR regime and the work of his mentor Werner Schubert-Deister, Weber created works of indictment, mourning and powerlessness that were critical of the regime during the 1980s. He remained true to this socially critical style even after 1990. Weber also deals with sacred topics.

reception

"If he continues to direct one's gaze to the darker side of human existence, this is always coupled with a belief in human reason and tolerance, which can also lead to lighter spheres at any time."

- Winfried Wiegand, director of the Meiningen museums
