Gervinus Ronnegarwe

Gervinus Ronnegarwe , also Gerwin (us) (* Stralsund ; † 1505 ibid) was a Pomeranian lawyer and Roman Catholic clergyman.

Life

Gervinus Ronnegarwe came from a Stralsund patrician family and was the son of councilor Brand Ronnegarwe (1443–1467). Since he was related to Katharina Hilgemann, he was tutored by her husband Heinrich Rubenow . In September 1450 he enrolled at the University of Rostock to study . At the University of Greifswald founded by Rubenow , he became a bacc in 1456 . legum enrolled. In the following year he received a canonical at the collegiate monastery of Greifswald Cathedral . After receiving his doctorate in Roman law in 1460 , he was given a full professorship at the university. Probably to evade the hostilities directed against Rubenow, he left Greifswald in 1461. Only after Rubenow's death did he return to the university in 1463, where he qualified as a bacc. decr. dedicated to canon law .

In 1466 he became a professor for the sixth book of the decretals and the clementines . In honor of Heinrich Rubenow, he repeated a speech given by Rubenow in Latin in 1460 when Johannes Parleberg was doing his doctorate in 1468 . His widow appointed him executor .

In 1470 he became rector of the university. During his rectorate he undertook a trip to Rome , partly because of disputes with the future provost Lorenz Bockholt, and was represented by Dietrich Stephani during this time. After the death of Rubenow's widow in 1492, he sold his Greifswald house and several uplifts and moved back to Stralsund. He received the archdeaconate for Tribsees and Usedom and became a board member of the Stralsund caland . He represented the city of Stralsund in important processes and in 1504 negotiated a settlement between the city and Duke Bogislaw X of Pomerania .

Gervinus Ronnegarwe was buried in the Stralsund St. Nikolai Church in 1505 .
