The social evening is a cabaret and music show in front of an audience of Saarland Radio , which was hosted by Hanns Dieter Hüsch for almost three decades .

Since 1973, six episodes per year have been produced in the large broadcasting hall on Halberg and broadcast live on Saturday evenings on the radio program of the Saarland Broadcasting Corporation ( SR 2 ). From 1991 to 2008 the television program in his television studio 1 ( "Little Social Evening" as a live recording in front of a small audience) also produced its own program, each of which was a somewhat more compact version of the radio program of the following day, adapted to the FS broadcast format .

The concept of the show comes from Karl-Heinz Schmieding. In every social evening, three artists or groups from the fields of cabaret , chanson and jazz usually perform in front of the audience. As the host, Hanns Dieter Hüsch initially led the show until he gave up the moderation in 2001 for health reasons. His successor Matthias Beltz died unexpectedly in 2002 and was replaced by Lisa Fitz . After Fitz's appearance on the RTL show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! in 2004 the SR separated from her and engaged Richard Rogler , who moderated the program until November 2007. Between 2001 and 2008 the social evening (only on the radio) was also presented by SR employee Steffen Kolodziej.

Since the 202nd episode on April 26, 2008, Emmanuel Peterfalvi alias Alfons ("Puschel TV") has been leading the social evening.

So far, the SR has broadcast 266 episodes (as of February 2019). The social evening is the oldest cabaret series on the ARD radio and is considered one of the figureheads of the Saarland radio. The guests so far have included artists such as Dieter Hildebrandt , Franz Josef Degenhardt , Konstantin Wecker , Mathias Richling , Dieter Nuhr , Stefan Jürgens , Walter Hedemann , Thomas Freitag , Sissi Perlinger and Willy Astor .
