Tenzin Dhargye

Tenzin Dhargye ( Tibetan བསྟན་ འཛིན་ དར་ རྒྱས ། Wylie bstan 'dzin dar rgyas ; * 1968 in Leh ) is a Tibetan scholar of Buddhist science, philosophy and religion. He is currently director of the Tibet Center in Knappenberg, Carinthia and spiritual director of the Tibetan Buddhist center Tibet Dharma Center (TDC).

Tenzin Dhargye entered the Sera Mey Tibetan Monastery University in southern India at the age of nine. His most important teacher was the former Youngzin Ling Rinpoche, the 97th in line to the throne of the Gelugpa tradition and main teacher of the 14th Dalai Lama . Tenzin Dhargye completed his education and 18-year study of Buddhist science, philosophy and religion in 1995 with the title Lharampa-Geshe . In 1986 he was asked to work as a teacher at the monastery university. In 1995 he joined the Gyudmey Tantric Monastery and completed his second degree, the "Ngarampa" degree (tantric studies). From 1995 to 1996 he also taught there.

Activity and functions

Tenzin Dhargye is now considered an important teacher of Tibetan Buddhism and is seen as an expert in Buddhist science and interior philosophy.

Since 1996 he has also been teaching in the western world on topics of Buddhist science, philosophy and religion. From 1997 to 2000, at the request of the Dalai Lama, he worked as a teacher for the Tibetan exile community and gave classes in Buddhism. In 1999 and 2000, Geshe Tenzin Dhargye was also visiting professor at the University of Virginia , USA, where he worked with Jeffrey Hopkins . From 2000 to 2002 he worked in Austria as spiritual director for the preparation of the Kalachakra event (with over 10,000 participants from 70 countries) in Graz .

In 2003 he founded the Tibetan Buddhist Center Thekchen Dho-ngag Choeling (TDC). In 2005 he was commissioned by the Dalai Lama to take over the management of the Tibet Center in Hüttenberg , Carinthia , and settled there. Since the establishment of this educational institute in October 2008 he has been director and managing partner there.

In the 2003 documentary Rad der Zeit by Werner Herzog , he is portrayed with other representatives of Buddhism.
