Franz Xaver Gewey

Franz Xaver Karl Gewey (born April 14, 1764 in Vienna ; † October 18, 1819 there ) was an Austrian civil servant, actor and writer .

Life

After finishing school in Vienna, Gewey kk became court chancellor.

As the successor to Joseph Richter, Gewey continued his Eipeldauer letters . Because of the dialect and the language alone, these letters still deserve attention today.

Franz Xaver Karl Gewey died on October 18, 1819 in Vienna at the age of 55.

He was buried in the Catholic cemetery in Vienna Matzleinsdorf (today: Waldmüllerpark ). In 1894, Geweygasse in Vienna- Döbling (19th district) was named after him.
