Gillian Bradshaw

Gillian Marucha Bradshaw (born May 14, 1956 in Falls Church , Virginia ) is an American writer .

Life

Bradshaw lived in Washington DC, California, Chile and France, among others. At the University of Michigan (final BA ) and the Newnham College of Cambridge University in England (degrees BA and MA ) she studied English literature . In 1977 she won the University of Michigan Hopwood Award Major Fiction for the novel Hawk of May . She mainly writes historical novels, is married, has four children and now lives in Cambridge, England (as of autumn 2004).

Bradshaw became famous above all for The Knights of the Round Table , a three-volume cycle on the Arthurian legend. The following works by the author mostly deal with historical subjects, such as the life of the ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes , or set in the late Roman Empire, such as her novel Beacon at Alexandria 1986. Bradshaw also wrote several children's books, including The Land of Gold 1992, Novels set in the present and science fiction .

Books by her have also been translated into Spanish , French , German and Danish .
