Gin no Saji: Silver Spoon ( Japanese 銀 の 匙 , also known as Silver Spoon ) is a manga series by the Japanese artist Hiromu Arakawa . It has been released in Japan since 2011, has been translated into several languages and adapted as an anime and real film. The plot revolves around the lives of students at an agricultural high school in Hokkaidō .

content

Yūgo Hachiken ( 八 軒 勇 吾 ) comes from Sapporo and wants to be as far away from home as possible after high school. Therefore, he chooses the Ōezo agricultural high school ( 大蝦 夷 農業 高等学校 , Ōezo Nōgyō Kōtō Gakkō ) in Yezo, which is remote in the country and has a boarding school.

The normal school subjects are easy for him, but he has unexpectedly many practical hours, so that he hardly has any free time. The other classmates mostly come from farming families in the region and are ahead of him with their specialist knowledge; most of them, unlike him, already have plans for what to do after school. On the other hand, he can help them with subjects like math. He quickly becomes friends with Ichirō Komaba ( 駒 場 一郎 ), Shinnosuke Aikawa ( 相 川 進 之 介 ), Tamako Inada ( 稲 田 多 摩 子 ) and Keiji Tokiwa ( 常 盤 恵 次 ). Since Hachiken also has to join a club, he opts for the riding club. His classmate Aki Mikage ( 御 影 ア キ ), with whom Hachiken falls in love, is also active in this.

The series has been published in the manga magazine Weekly Shōnen Sunday by Shogakukan in Japan since May 2011 . The chapters have also been published in 13 edited volumes so far.
