Gioan Đỗ Văn Ngân

Johannes Đỗ Văn Ngân , born as Gioan Đỗ Văn Ngân (born June 7, 1953 in Ninh Bình ) is a Vietnamese Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Xuân Lộc .

Life

Johannes Đỗ Văn Ngân attended the Saint-Joseph Minor Seminary in Saigon from 1965 to 1973 , followed by the Papal Institute of Pius X in Đà Lạt . On January 14, 1992, he received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Xuân Lộc. He was assigned the parish of Ninh Phát , where he first worked as a vicar and then until 2005 as a pastor.

In 1998 he graduated with a degree in Vietnamese literature from the University of Social and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City. From 2006 to 2010 he deepened his philosophical knowledge at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila in the Philippines , where he obtained his licentiate . Upon his return he became a lecturer in philosophy and vice-rector of the St. Joseph Seminary of Xuân Lộc. In mid-2016 the new Bishop of Xuân Lộc, Joseph Đinh Đức Đạo , appointed him Vicar General of the diocese.

On May 2, 2017 it appointed Pope Francis to the titular bishop of Buleliana and auxiliary bishop in Xuân Lộc. The bishop of Xuân Lộc, Joseph Đinh Đức Đạo, ordained him episcopal on June 1 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the bishop of Bùi Chu , Thomas Vu Dình Hiêu , and the bishop of Phát Diệm , Joseph Nguyen Nang .

His name combines the western name tradition ( Gioan (Johannes) as first name before the family name Đỗ ) with the Vietnamese ( Văn Ngân as a personal name is behind the family name).
