Giovanni Battista Cesana

Giovanni Battista Cesana MCCJ (born May 14, 1899 in Castello sopra Lecco , Italy ; † June 12, 1991 ) was an Italian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Gulu .

Life

Giovanni Battista Cesana joined the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries in and received on 6 June 1925, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 1, 1950, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Cerbali and Apostolic Vicar of Jolo. The Archbishop of Milan , Alfredo Ildefonso Cardinal Schuster OSB , donated him episcopal ordination on April 1, 1951 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Como , Felice Bonomini , and the Auxiliary Bishop in Ostia , Pietro Villa FSCJ.

Giovanni Battista Cesana was due to the elevation of the Apostolic Vicariate of Jolo for the March 25, 1953 the diocese first bishop of Gulu. Cesana attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .

On December 19, 1968, Pope Paul VI. the resignation put forward by Cesana and appointed him titular bishop of Litterae .
