Giovanni Battista della Pietra SJ (born October 17, 1871 in Cornegliano Laudense , Province of Lodi , Italy , † August 26, 1940 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Giovanni Battista della Pietra joined the religious order of the Jesuits and received the sacrament of priestly ordination on September 18, 1904 .

On March 3, 1927, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Chalcedon and ordered him to apostolic delegate in Albania . The Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide , Cardinal Wilhelmus Marinus van Rossum CSsR , donated him episcopal ordination on March 19 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the secretary of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide, Archbishop Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani , and Bishop Michel d'Herbigny SJ.
