Giovanni Vittorio Ferro CRS (born November 13, 1901 in Costigliole d'Asti , † April 18, 1992 ) was an Italian clergyman and Archbishop of Reggio Calabria .

Life

Giovanni Ferro received on 11 April 1925, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On September 14, 1950 he was by Pope Pius XII. called Archbishop of Reggio Calabria and at the same time Bishop of Bova . He was ordained episcopal on October 29th of the same year by the Archbishop of Genoa, Giuseppe Siri ; Co- consecrators were Umberto Rossi , Bishop of Asti , and Francesco Marchesani , Bishop of Chiavari .

Giovanni Ferro resigned from his office as Bishop of Bova on September 8, 1960, but took it up again on August 18, 1973.

His resignation as Archbishop of Reggio Calabria and as Bishop of Bova took Pope Paul VI. on June 4, 1977.

In the beatification procedure initiated for him, Pope Francis recognized him on July 6, 2019, the heroic degree of virtue .
