Giovanni Ottavio Manciforte Sperelli
Giovanni Ottavio Manciforte Sperelli (born February 22, 1703 in Assisi , † June 5, 1781 in Rome ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church .
Life
After studying at La Sapienza University in Rome, where he also received his doctorate in law on November 26, 1754 , he was ordained a priest on September 7, 1755 . Afterwards he worked as a trainee lawyer for the signatures , he also became a relator of the Congregation for the Administration of Goods . Appointments as Consultor of the Holy Office and Inquisitor of Malta followed.
Manciforte Sperelli, who was also a canon of the Vatican Basilica , he was appointed titular archbishop of Teodosia on June 17, 1771 . The episcopal ordination donated him on June 23, 1771 in Frascati Henry Benedict Mary Cardinal Stuart . From June 27, 1771 on as Nuncio in Florence, he finally returned to Rome, where he had been a cleric of the Apostolic Chamber from January 4, 1776 and was promoted to Prefect of the Apostolic Palace on May 24, 1776 .
Pope Pius VI elevated him to cardinal in pectore on June 23, 1777 and published his name on December 11, 1780. On April 2, 1781 he appointed him cardinal priest of the titular church of Santa Maria in Trastevere .
