Giovanni Simone Comandè (* 1580 in Messina ; † 1634 ibid) was an Italian painter of the late Renaissance in Sicily .

Life

Giovanni Simone was the son of the painter Stefano Comandè , a student of Polidoro da Caravaggio , and brother of Francesco Comandè (* around 1568), who was trained by Deodato Guinaccia .

Initially a student of his brother, he later went to Venice , where he was probably employed in Paolo Veronese 's workshop . Back in Messina, he often worked with his brother Francesco, who initially painted in the style of his teacher Guinaccia and later switched to Venetian painting under the influence of his younger brother Giovanni Simone.
