Giovanni de Vecchi

Giovanni de Vecchi (also Giovanni de 'Vecchi ), called dal Borgo (* 1536 in Borgo San Sepolcro , †  April 13, 1615 in Rome ) was an Italian painter of the late Renaissance.

Life and education

De Vecchi was a student in the workshop of Raffaellino del Colle and Taddeo Zuccari , both important painters of Italian mannerism . From 1558 he worked in Rome, a. a. in well-known churches of the mendicant orders. In 1570 he became a member of the Accademia di San Luca , to whose director (principe) he was appointed in 1596, and in 1578 a member of the Pontifical Academy of Fine Arts and Literature ( Congregazione dei virtuosi del Pantheon) . One of his most important clients was Cardinal Alessandro Farnese .
