Giuseppe Bernardino Bison
Giuseppe Bernardino Bison (born June 16, 1762 in Palmanova , † August 28, 1844 in Milan ) was an Italian painter of classicism .
Life
Giuseppe Bernardino Bison was born on June 16, 1762 in Palmanova. Together with his two Venetian parents, Bison moved to Brescia , where he began studying art and became a student of Gerolamo Romani . The family later returned to Venice. In the lagoon city Bison continued his art studies under Giovanni Antonio Canal and befriended the architect of the Teatro La Fenice , Gian Antonio Selva (1751-1819). With his help, Bison got the job of a stage painter and worked in the following years at the opera houses of Venice , Treviso , Gorizia and Trieste . In 1787, Bison followed his patron Selva to Ferrara and later to Treviso (1793), to finally work more intensively in Trieste. In the port city, he worked in Palazzo Carciotti , Palazzo della Borsa and the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore , among others . In 1831 or 1833 Bison left Trieste to work in Milan at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera .
Bison died on August 24, 1844 in poor conditions.
