Giuseppe Patocchi

Giuseppe Patocchi (born April 25, 1822 in Peccia , † December 30, 1891 in Naples ) was a Swiss politician . From 1855 to 1860 he was a member of the National Council.

biography

The son of a government secretary was one of the first to graduate from the methodology course in Bellinzona in 1837 . Patocchi then worked as a teacher at a primary school for seven years and was also one of the founding members of the Society of Friends of National Education. From 1848 he officiated as government commissioner for the district of Vallemaggia . The timber trade in the Maggia valley made him very wealthy.

Patocchi represented radical liberal views and was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Ticino in 1848, of which he was a member until 1852. After the results of the National Council elections in Ticino in 1854 had been declared invalid, he joined the repetition in March 1855 and was elected in the constituency of North Ticino . In 1860 he clearly missed re-election and remained government commissioner until 1872.

His younger brother Michele Patocchi was a Ticino State Councilor .
