Glaister George Duncan

Glaister George Duncan (born April 4, 1930 in Spanish Town ) is a former Jamaican diplomat .

Life

Glaister George Duncan is the son of Beatrice Dunk-Duncan and Malcolm Duncan. He attended May Pen Elementary School, Clarendon College (Jamaica) , received a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science . He was later a Commonwealth Scholar at McGill University .

Career

From 1949 he was employed as a tax collector for the colonial administration. In 1957 he joined the colonial interior ministry. In 1964 he became Assistant Secretary. In 1966 he became a municipal employee of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC). On August 18, 1973, he married Claire Elaine Meikle (second marriage); they have two daughters and three sons. From 1973 to 1977 he was a permanent state secretary in the Ministry of Local Government. From 1978 to 1981 he was a permanent state secretary in the Ministry of Public Service. From 1982 to 1987 he was ambassador in Bonn and was accredited to the governments in The Hague , Luxembourg , Jerusalem and the Holy See . From 1988 to 1989 he was ambassador to Moscow and was accredited to the governments of Budapest , Warsaw (April 13, 1988), Bucharest , Sofia , Prague and Berlin . On August 16, 1988, Glaister George Duncan was accredited by Erich Honecker . Vehicle registration number 224 was intended for the vehicle fleet of the Jamaican mission . On June 23, 1989 he said goodbye to Nicolae Ceauşescu and on August 1, 1989 to Günther Kleiber . From 1989 to 1992 he was a permanent state secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. He was inducted into the Order of Distinction as a commander .
