The gloss rocket is a fresh green, wintering green, annual herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 10 to 50 centimeters. The independently upright stem is branched. The leaves have one to six serrated, pinnate to cleft sections and a larger, spear-shaped end section.

In Central Europe the gloss rocket occurs only inconsistently; Occasionally they are found, for example, in the Rhine-Main area , on the Upper Rhine , in Valais , in the Vienna Basin and at the foot of the Alps . It grows here in the societies of the Sisymbrion Association. In southern Europe she is a character species of the Hordeion association.
The gloss rocket thrives best on loose sand - or clay soils , which should be rich in bases and nitrogen . It settles in vacant locations in port facilities and in the area of freight yards in areas with mild winters and dry and warm summers.
