The gloss Rose ( Rosa nitida ), also Glanzblättrige Rose called, is a plant of the genus roses ( Rosa ) within the family of the rose family (Rosaceae). It is native to northeastern North America . Its botanical name (specific epithet nitida from Latin nitidus for shiny) and common name refers to the shiny leaves.

Rosa nitida grows as a compact, runners-forming shrub that reaches heights of up to 80 centimeters. Its prickly branches have a reddish-brown bark . Its glossy, pinnate leaves are dark green and turn bright red and yellow in autumn. The leaflets are narrow with serrated leaf margin.

The flowering time is at the end of June. The relatively small, hermaphrodite flowers are 4 to 5 centimeters in diameter and have radial symmetry and five-fold with a double flower envelope. The five free petals are bright pink. With a diameter of 0.8 to 1 centimeter, the relatively small, rounded rose hips are bristly and vermilion when ripe.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 14.
