Glendo is a city in Platte County , eastern Wyoming in the United States . The city is about 1,440 meters above sea level on the North Platte River, which is dammed here to form the Glendo Reservoir .

Demographics

According to a 2007 survey, 219 people, 109 men and 110 women live in Glendo, and the average per capita income is less than the national average for Wyoming.

Glendo is on Interstate 25 between Douglas and Wheatland . The Union Pacific Railroad runs through the city on which only goods, especially coal, have been transported since the 1950s. Glendo had a stop on this railway line. North of the city is the Thomas Memorial Airport , a local airfield.

Attractions

Close to town is the Glendo Dam and Glendo Reservoir, which is surrounded by Glendo State Park . There are some tent sites here and the reservoir offers the opportunity for water sports.

The way west led the settlers traveling on the Oregon , California , and Mormon Trails south past Glendo.

From Glendo, a road leads into the nearby Medicine Bow National Forest and the Laramie Peak region .

Trivia

On May 27, 1935, a Boeing Model 200 crashed near the city. The mail and cargo plane was an aircraft that was only built twice.
