Lists on the subject |
The fully automatic Glock 18 from the Austrian company Glock is a further development of the Glock 17 , a standard weapon used by the FBI and other police authorities. As a series fire pistol, the Glock 18 can fire the entire contents of its magazine with a single pull-through of the trigger . A lever at the left end of the slide can be used to switch between single and continuous fire.
There is the Glock 18 - like other Glock models also - as Glock 18C ( english C ompensator ). The compensator is an integral part of the weapon construction. Due to the compensator bores eroded in the barrel and the extension of these bores through the slide, part of the gases that expand when the shot is fired is diverted upwards, which reduces the rifling of the weapon as part of the recoil. The disadvantage of the compensator constructions is that the gunner can be blinded by the muzzle flash, which is partly directed upwards - especially in night situations - and thus the use by the military, police etc. is only possible to a limited extent.
