Gloria Marconi

Gloria Marconi (born March 31, 1968 in Florence ) is an Italian long-distance runner .

She was a talented middle-distance runner at school , but at the age of 15 she had to abandon her athletic career due to a chronic headache.

She started again in 1997, and after she met the coach Maurizio Lorenzetti the following year, who is now her partner, she was successful in the long-distance segment. Twice she was Italian champion over 5000 m (2002, 2004) and three times over 10,000 m (2003, 2006, 2007); She won two other national titles over 3000 m indoors (2002) and in the half marathon (2006).

In 2002 she won the Prague Half Marathon . At the European Athletics Championships in Munich she was eleventh over 5000 m and came 24th over 10,000 m. In the following year she won the Rome marathon in 2:29:35 h on her debut over the 42.195 km and finished 42nd in the marathon of the World Athletics Championships in Paris / Saint-Denis .

In 2004 she was eleventh at the World Half Marathon Championships in New Delhi and second at the Milan Marathon in 2:31:53 h. In 2006 she won the Reggio Emilia Marathon.

Gloria Marconi is 1.63 m tall and weighs 48 kg. She starts for Atletica Ferrara and is trained by her partner Maurizio Lorenzetti and Massimo Magnani.
