Pilgrimage Church of the "Birth of Mary"

Glosberg is on the Haßlach . The Glosberger Graben, which flows into the Haßlach in the neighboring town of Gundelsdorf, runs through the town center. The Birkacher Graben, which also flows into the Haßlach near Knellendorf, stretches along the Vonz and Birkach farms and several fish ponds . The Reitscher Bach rises in the Glosberg district and forms the border to the neighboring community of Stockheim in the lower half up to the confluence with the Haßlach .

Pilgrimage church

Pilgrimages to Glosberg have been taking place since 1530. The Catholic pilgrimage church of the Birth of the Virgin Mary has stood in the center of the village since 1734 . Construction began in 1730 after the statue of the Virgin in the former chapel was said to have cried three bloody tears three years earlier. The place of pilgrimage includes a forest path on which the seven sorrows of Mary are depicted and which ends at a forest chapel on the Rauscherberg.

societies

There are several lively clubs in Glosberg. You can work artistically in the theater association or in the music association Glosberg. It's sporty in the Concordia Glosberg bicycle club, with the FCN friends and in the game club. The volunteer fire brigade protects the village's belongings. The associations organize regular events (excursions, parties, performances, competitions) that are well received by the population.

education

Until 2006 there was a library in the local parish hall. A school building with two classrooms existed from 1953 to 2005 and was closed due to the low number of students.

Acid resin dump near Birkach

There are three inns, a gas station, a composting facility and a recycling center in Glosberg and its local area. From September 2010 an acid resin dump near Birkach was excavated; around 3,000 tons of acid resin and a further 15,000 tons of contaminated soil were disposed of. A Kronach mineral oil company brought in waste products from oil processing at this point between 1949 and 1962. In the meantime, another 200 barrels were found that had not been discovered in earlier test drilling. These barrels were so close to Kreisstraße 25 that it had to be closed and a section had to be removed in order to be able to dispose of the soil underneath.
