Village and rafting museum, former Upper Castle

Friesen is a district of Kronach in the Franconian Forest . These include the hamlets of Dennig, Hochwart, Neumühle, Trebesgrund and Rennesberg.

The place is five kilometers north of the county seat. The Frisians are also known as "Orchelsacher" because a long time ago a boy smacked (urinated) into the organ and left traces.

Friesen was first mentioned in a document in 1348. There was a medium-sized castle , but it fell into disrepair in the 19th century. The upper castle was preserved as a ruin until recently, the remains of which have since been removed. A Jewish community existed in the village from the middle of the 17th to the end of the 19th century. The fortified church , built in 1434, has been rebuilt and renovated several times.

On May 1, 1978 the municipality of Friesen was incorporated into the district town of Kronach.
