geography

Wötzelsdorf is about seven kilometers southeast of the district town of Kronach in the Fischbachtal.

history

It was first mentioned in 1325 in the Bamberg land register . According to the fief book of Bishop Albrecht of Bamberg , in 1409 Johannes von Guttenberg received eleven goods with accessories in "Wazwesdorf" as fiefs .

In the 19th century the name was changed from "Wetzelsdorf" to Wötzelsdorf. In 1862 the rural community of Wötzelsdorf was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian district office Stadtsteinach . It consisted of four places, the two villages Wötzelsdorf and Horlachen and the two hamlets Grünlinden and Vorderstöcken. In 1871 the village of Wetzelsdorf had 156 inhabitants. On the occasion of the reform of the layout of the Bavarian district offices, the Stadtsteinach district office ceded the municipality to the Kronach district office on January 1, 1880. In 1900 the 530 hectare rural community had 291 residents, 287 of whom were Protestant and 4 were Catholic, and 48 residential buildings. The Protestants were parish in Fischbach, the Catholics in Kronach. The village of Wötzelsdorf had 174 inhabitants and 26 residential buildings. The Protestant denominational school for the community was located there.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Wötzelsdorf was first incorporated into Fischbach on January 1, 1972. Fischbach went up on May 1, 1978 in Kronach.
