Vogtendorf is part of the municipality of Kronach in the Upper Franconian district of Kronach in Bavaria .

geography

The village lies at the foot of the Franconian Forest on the Rodach .

history

The place name probably goes back to the personal name Vocco and means "The village of Vocco". The first mention was in 1323 in Bamberg Urbar as "Vocke village".

In 1871 the village had 26 residential buildings and 155 inhabitants, with 57 Catholics who were in Kronach and 98 Protestants who were parish in Fischbach .

On July 1, 1972, Vogtendorf was incorporated into Kronach.

Personalities

Johann Kaspar Zeuss

In 1806 the philologist Johann Kaspar Zeuß was born in Vogtendorf as the second son of the master mason marriage couple Michael Zeuss and Margaretha, née. Hanna, born. In 1856 he died in his birthplace.
