Go West (band)
Go West is a British pop music - Duo , which had its most successful period 1985-1993.
Band history
Go West was founded in 1982 by Peter Cox and Richard Drummie.
The debut single We Close Our Eyes was released in 1985. The song climbed into the German and Swiss Top 20 as well as the English Top 10 and is still the most successful Go-West single in Europe . The accompanying album Go West was awarded double platinum in Great Britain . At the BRIT Awards 1986 the duo was honored as "Best British Newcomer".
A number of singles followed by 1987, most of which were able to place themselves in the middle of the English and / or American charts. Only Call Me (1985) and Don't Look Down - The Sequel stood out and reached the top 20 of the UK charts.
After a long hiatus, Go West had a top 10 hit in the United States in 1990 with the single The King of Wishful Thinking from the soundtrack to the film Pretty Woman , which made the song the band's biggest hit in America. In the British homeland, the title climbed a top 20 position, in Germany it was only just enough for the top 50.
With the singles Faithful (1992) and What You Won't Do for Love (1993), both from the gold award-winning album Indian Summer , Go West was able to build on this success. The last top 20 hit in Great Britain was Tracks of My Tears in 1993 , a song from the album Aces and Kings: The Best Of , which reached the top 10 of the UK singles chart and was awarded a gold record.
