Godard meets Truffaut (original title: Deux de la Vague ) is a documentary from 2010 . The German theatrical release was April 28, 2011 .

The documentary describes the friendship between the two founders of the Nouvelle Vague , François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard . The film begins with her beginnings with the Cahiers du cinéma and her sensational film debuts with They Kissed and They Beat him and Out of Breath . The actor Jean-Pierre Léaud , who as Antoine Doinel became the leading face of the New Wave and played in Truffaut's romantic-poetic films ( Stolen Kisses, etc.) as well as in Godard's radical works ( The Chinese, etc.), soon stood between his fathers . For Godard, Léaud finally becomes the match ball against Truffaut.

The director Emmanuel Laurent cuts together archive material and thus describes one of the most important trends in film history.
