Gogołów [ˈpʂɛnnɔ] (German Goglau ) is a village in the rural municipality Świdnica ( Schweidnitz ) in the Powiat Świdnicki in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

The place is about 12 kilometers east of the district town Świdnica (Schweidnitz) and 46 kilometers southwest of the state capital Wroclaw .

The place was mentioned in 1193 as Gogoleuo and 1345 as Gogelow . The owner was Ulrich Schwob in 1393, Nikel Frize in 1474, Joachim von Hoberg and Balzer Nimptsch in 1550, his son Joachim Nimptsch in Burkersdorf in 1554, Nikolaus von Zedlitz in 1584, Stenzel von Zedlitz in 1568 in Wilkau, Friedrich von Zedlitz in 1594, Dietrich Niemiz in 1619, his widow in 1655 , 1663 Hans Christoph von Hoberg, 1733 Ernst Friedrich von Hoberg and finally the chamberlain Hans Christoph von Hoberg.

The parish church of Goglau is one of the oldest in the Schweidnitzer Land. It was possibly built during the time of Duke Heinrich II von Schweidnitz . With the Reformation she became Protestant and in 1654 re-Catholic. Goglau was evangelically parish to the Friedenskirche Schweidnitz . After the first Silesian War , Goglau fell to Prussia and was incorporated into the Schweidnitz district.

In 1785 the place had 1 Catholic church, 1 rectory, 1 school, 3 farms, 12 farmers, 15 gardeners, 21 houses and 264 residents. In 1845 the place had 75 houses, 1 manorial castle, 3 manorial outbuildings, 482 inhabitants, 46 of them Catholic and the rest of them Protestant, 1 Protestant school, 1 Catholic church, 1 windmill, 16 craftsmen and 3 shopkeepers. In 1852 there were 510 inhabitants. Goglau was part of the Käntchen district.

When it was taken over by Soviet troops and the Polish administration in 1945, Goglau was renamed Gogołów . The German residents were expelled and replaced by Poles .
